ARGO YACHTING PROFILE: PUERTO BANUS

Join us as we delve deeper into Argo Yachting in Puerto Banus, Southern Spain. Nick Case, Sales Manager, tells us about his history in the yachting world and Southern Spain as a boating area.

How long have you worked in the yachting industry, what have you done previously?

I have worked with boats since 1980, first as a RYA sailing instructor working in Poole Harbour. Around three years later I became a broker for Cobbs Quay in Poole which was taken over by Marina Secol (now known as Princess Motor Yacht Sales). I was asked to open a Princess office in Gibraltar, how could I refuse! I moved to Gibraltar in 1990 and I’ve been here ever since – I’m very proud to represent the Princess brand for more than 30 years within Princess Motor Yacht Sales, and even more so now with Argo Yachting.

Tell us more about you, what do you enjoy doing?

In the spare time that I have when I’m not meeting customers or out on the yachts, I enjoy simply being outdoors. I regularly take my bicycle out and try to ride at least 200km a week – the landscape and cycle routes around Puerto Banus provide great scenery and, at times, challenging terrains so it’s perfect! In the winter, I tend to try and escape the Spanish sun and go skiing, a great annual tradition.

So, what can you tell us about Argo Yachting in Puerto Banus?

We are the most active new and pre-owned boat sales outlet on the southern coast, with a full aftersales team to look after clients and their boats. We’ve been here for nearly 30 years, so we’re very grounded and well known in the area. Argo Yachting brings with it the new brand, Saxdor Yachts, to Puerto Banus too – adding to our already sterling reputation here.

We have actually just taken on a new Argo brokerage listing, a 2011 Sunseeker 88 motor yacht located here in Puerto Banus.

What’s so special about Puerto Banus and why should people boat here?

Spain is a beautiful country with a fantastic climate. We are in November now, with a daily temperature of 25 degrees and I’m still in a pair of shorts! With such a reliable climate, boating is possible all year round – plus with the varied and beautiful coastline, there’s much to explore. Plus, it goes without saying, the Spanish cuisine here in Puerto Banus is exquisite.

Lastly, tell us about the new brand Saxdor Yachts.

Saxdor Yachts is a new brand, having only launched in Summer 2020. We are incredibly proud to represent this new brand as part of Argo Yachting here in Puerto Banus and across Southern Spain. We have a Saxdor 200 Sport based in the Banus marina – she is a demo boat so we are able to take her out for sea trials and invite customers to come and enjoy her. At such an affordable price, this new brand really opens up the yachting world to more people than ever before.

The new Saxdor 320 GTO will be arriving with us towards the end of the year, so we’re looking forward to getting our hands on her and taking her out for a spin.
